The project in a nutshell

  • Project title: Circular REDesign for a Resource-efficient, Innovative, and Transformative Built Environment
  • Project acronym: CRedIBlE
  • Funding programme: Horizon Europe
  • Funding agency: CINEA — European Climate, Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agency
  • Timeline: 01/10/2025 – 30/09/2029 (48 months)

CRedIBlE accelerates circular construction by building an interoperable digital ecosystem that connects Building Information Modeling (BIM), Life Cycle Assessment (LCA), Digital Twin technologies, and AI-driven analytics. The goal is to enable data-driven decisions for design, adaptability, reuse, and deconstruction across the whole building lifecycle—reducing waste, minimizing embodied carbon, and increasing the recovery of components and materials.

The project delivers practical tools and methods that make circularity actionable for architects, engineers, industry and policymakers:

  • AI-powered decision support for material reuse, modular construction, and renovation planning.
  • Digital Product Passports for traceability, embodied-carbon reporting, and regulatory alignment.
  • BIM–LCA integration and Digital Twin–based monitoring for real-time sustainability assessment.
  • Modular, disassemblable components and a marketplace for secondary materials and systems (e.g., HVAC, PV).
  • Policy framework, training, and standardized guidelines to support large-scale adoption across Europe.

Who we are

The project is coordinated and managed by Kaunas University of Technology (KTU).

The consortium includes a total of 18 organisations from 9 countries, spanning universities, businesses and city municipalities.
